Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said Slovakia is among 15 countries calling for a revision of the EU ETS2, which would impose CO2 charges on road transport and building heating starting in 2027. He said Slovakia will coordinate within the V4 and noted the European Commission has committed in writing to study an “emergency brake” for a potential halt of Russian gas from 1 January 2028 and to propose measures on high energy prices by year-end.
