California hits 30,800 MW clean energy milestone, invests $136M
California announced it has added 30,800 MW of new clean energy and storage capacity since 2019 and the California Energy Commission approved $136 million in new clean energy and climate technology investments. The CPUC reports 21,000 MW contracted and in development by 2029 and authorized PG&E to spend up to $2.8 billion between 2025–2026 to speed grid connections; coal use is set to fall below 0.2% once the Intermountain Power Plant ceases coal burns.
Canadian ministers to visit UK for critical minerals forum
Canada’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Tim Hodgson and Parliamentary Secretary Claude Guay will travel to the United Kingdom from October 14–16, 2025 to attend official meetings including a forum on critical minerals hosted by the BACC and Canada–UK Chamber of Commerce. Media engagements include an in-person forum on October 15 at The Geological Society in London and a virtual media availability via Zoom on October 16, with pre-registration required via provided emails.
India and UK announce wide-ranging trade, tech, climate, defence commitments
UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer visited India on 08–09 October 2025; both leaders reaffirmed the India–UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, urged CETA ratification, and announced new tech, climate and defence initiatives including at least £24m for the India–UK Connectivity and Innovation Centre. They also agreed government-to-government steps for initial supply of Lightweight Multirole Missile systems and launched a Climate Tech Start-up Fund under an MoU between the UK Government and State Bank of India.
